A group of young reporters go on an expedition to the Amazon to make a documentary of the last remaining cannibal tribes. The group disappears without a trace. Two months later, a team of rescuers is sent to find them, only to discover the film they had shot. Upon playing this film, we see the horrible truth of what happened to the reporters.

This deservedly notorious film rises above genre conventions, achieving a brutal artistic purity not often found in Horror film. As the audience follows the sadistic characters on their descent into darkness, their own culpability in the crimes they witness (and pleasure they may take in it) is questioned. The only worthy comparison points for this film are Pier Paolo Pasolini's Salo and, more directly, the writings of the Marquis de Sade.

Truly, a classic of world cinema!
